Pitt Offers Elite 2017 CB

The Pitt football program doesn’t recruit much in the state of Georgia but Pat Narduzzi and his staff have their eyes on an elite GA  2017 cornerback.

Last night Pitt cornerback coach Renaldo Hill informed Jaytlin Askew (Powder Springs, Georgia) that Pitt was offering him a scholarship.

“I’m not really surprised I received the offer because their style of play matches mine”, said Askew. “Coach Hill offered me tonight and I got the offer because I because I ball out of control!”

Watching tape of Askew and one thing stands out more than anything: SPEED.  Askew has elite speed and it allows him to recover from any mistakes that he might make.

Askew told me, “I’m an aggressive cornerback. I love to put my hands on you, but I can play you without my hands as well. I’m smart sort of like the quarterback of the defensive backs. My biggest strength is my speed and quickness. I’m able to break on the ball fast and can recover fast.”

Pitt isn’t the only program that’s noticed Askew.  The 4-star cornerback has offers from Auburn, Florida St, Mississppi, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and West Virginia. He’s made visits already to Florida State, Tennessee and Auburn.

Good news for Pitt because Askew told me “Pitt will definitely see me up there.”

That will likely be in May because Askew says he’ll be attending a QB camp with his cousin in Berwick. He’s going there in order to  “help the quarterbacks read the defensive backs.”

As of right now, despite all the big offers Askew doesn’t have any favorites. But he did say that “growing up in Georgia, your family either liked Georgia or Georgia Tech and my family liked Georgia Tech.”

Speaking of favorites, I asked Askew who his favorite NFL player is or a player he patterns himself after?

“I love Darrelle Revis and Darqueze Dennard (former Michigan State CB). I love their style of play and I model myself after them.”

When it comes time to make a final decision, Askew will be looking for two things: 1) a great surrounding..having that home type of feeling 2) great academics.

“I want to major in Robotic computer engineering. And I love cartoons man, LOL.”

Pat Narduzzi already had 4-star safety Paris Ford committed, getting a player like Askew to team up with him would be scary for opposing offenses.
