Pitt FB Recruiting

Sunday Morning Notebook

Here’s a few odds and ends from the Pittsburgh Sports Now Sunday morning notebook:

*The Coaches ranking and the AP Top 25 will come out today and tomorrow and I think Pitt is a lock to re-enter. Pitt now holds an 8-3 record and all 3 losses are to Top 15 teams.  Plus, I think it’s impressive that 5 of the 8 wins have come on the road.

Top 25 teams that lost this week: #13 Utah, #15 LSU, #19 Houston, #21 Memphis, #24 USC and #25 Wisconsin

*In case you missed it, the Pitt/Miami, Fla. game this Friday (Noon) will be televised nationally by ESPN2

*Now that we know Pitt will be going to a bowl game, question now is which one? This morning, I was told that the 4 bowl reps that have shown the most interest and attended the last couple Pitt games have been: Pinstripe Bowl, Taxslayer Bowl (January 2nd, Jacksonville), Russell Athletic Bowl and the Sun Bowl. Out of these 4, I’d say Sun Bowl is least likely. Which one would you like to see Pitt get an invite to?

*How good has QB Nate Peterman been? Since Game 4, he’s thrown 15 TD’s and only 1 interception.

*Pitt DE Ejuan Price’s 5 sacks are the most by an FBS player this season.

*Pitt is 10-3 over its last 13 regular season games

*Pitt’s 3 losses this season are to teams with a combined 31-2 record: Iowa (11-0), Notre Dame (10-1) and North Carolina (10-1)

*With 103 receiving yards and 47 rushing yards yesterday, Tyler Boyd moved into second place on Pitt’s career all-purpose yardage list.

*Talked with Beaver 2017 athlete Darius Wise who visited Penn State yesterday. Wise told me, “It was very good, kind of cold (LOL)! I talked with Coach Smith the one that is recruiting me. The game was fun, great experience. My upcoming plans are to probably visit them again.”

*I’m expecting to hear back from VA DE Patrick Jones this morning. Jones made an official visit to Pitt yesterday, in fact it was his first time in the city of Pittsburgh. Check back for a story on Jones.
