“I’ve been talking to Pitt since my sophomore season. I had a few different recruits coaches but currently Coach Salem is recruiting me”, said Lopez.
“I’m expecting a great day. As of right now, an offer could be soon but I’m looking forward to talking to the coaches and having a great visit.”
At one time. Lopez was once one of the top prospects in the state of New Jersey. But for the last couple of years, he’s had some bad luck with injuries.
Lopez told me, “Last season I played with a torn labrum. I don’t believe it set me back that much which was surprising. It only set me back with schools recruiting me. But I totally understand why and I’m not mad at all. My shoulder is fine is fine now and is 100% since surgery.”
Right now, the 2 teams recruiting Lopez hardest are Pitt and Temple.
Lopez describes himself as a “tough physical player that uses good technique to beat my opponent.”
Lopez has beaten his opponents a lot on the field this year as his team in New Jersey is 10-0 and will be playing in the state championship at Met Life Stadium.
But until then Lopez will enjoy Thanksgiving with his family and then travel to Pittsburgh.
“I leave late Thanksgiving night and will arrive in Pittsburgh early Friday morning”, said Lopez.
We’ll stay in touch with Lopez this weekend and see if he’s able to land that offer from Pitt.
