Monday Evening Pitt Recruiting Notes

The information continues to come in on Pitt’s coaches first full day of visiting recruits. Here’s what I’ve learned tonight:

**Head coach Pat Narduzzi made a big visit tonight in the state of Virginia. This coming Wednesday DE Patrick Jones will make his college decision so tonight Narduzzi made an in home visit.   Narduzzi was joined by defensive line coach Tom Sims as they talked with Jones for 3 hours.

“They weren’t really trying to sell me on anything, they were just being honest and telling me what’s up”, said Jones.

“They said spots are open and pretty much it’s here for the taking and the best players play. ”

I asked Jones what he wanted to know from the coaches.

“I talked to them about the depth at DE and how they could use me”, said Jones.

On Wednesday, Jones will pick between Pitt and Virginia Tech.  Will the coaching change at Virginia Tech impact Jones?

“It does but it doesn’t because as long as the defensive coordinator (Bud Foster) is there and my position coach stays, it’s not going to affect me”, said Jones.

Does anyone have the edge?

“Both schools are neck and neck right now.”

UPDATE (9:48 PM):

**Ive been told that Pitt coaches met today with 4-star TE Jovani Haskins (Bergenfield, NJ).   Don’t have much info on the visit but Haskins did tell me, “I’m open to anything.”  Haskins is a big-time prospect, rated one of the Top 10 TE prospects in the country.

UPDATE (10:00 PM):

**Sources are telling me that Pitt defensive coordinator Josh Conklin will visit tomorrow with current USC commit Keyshon Camp (6-3, 274). Camp (Lakeland,  Florida) made an official visit to USC back on November 8th.  He also took an official to Michigan and also plans to visit Alabama and Oregon.  He’ll then have one left to take, Pitt coaches are hoping it will be them.   Camp recently said, “I’m 85% committed” (to USC).
