James Conner Has Cancer

Stunning news today as James Conner announced that he has cancer.

When Pitt announced a 1:30 pm press conference, everyone assumed it was for Conner to announce that he was going to enter the 2016 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

With his mother and Head Coach Pat Narduzzi by his side, Conner announced the news of cancer.   Conner has been diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma, the same thing that Kansas City Chiefs Eric Berry battled.

Conner went on to announce that he plans to undergo chemotherapy immediately and intends to return to play next season for Pitt.

Dr.  Stanley Marks says Conner has Stage 2 cancer and that the cure rate is 85/90%.

Conner will begin chemotherapy on Tuesday and receive it every two weeks for 6 months.

With his teammates in attendance, Conner said that “I’m not fighting this alone.” He went on to say, “I’m so lucky I came to Pitt because they have the best doctors in the country.”

Conner found out on Thanksgiving about the cancer and informed his teammates about it in a 12:30 PM team meeting.

“I know that God wouldn’t bring me to something that I couldn’t get thru.”

God bless James Conner and say an extra prayer for him today.
