The Pitt Panthers extended an offer today to a big player.
A real big player.
Mekhi Becton is 6′ 7, 300 pounds and he’s only a junior. Here’s the scary part, Becton tells me that “I’m not done growing yet.”
Becton (Highland Springs, Va) found out today that he was offered a scholarship by Pitt.
“I was truly excited and blessed. I know that Larry Fitzgerald and Sean Gilbert had good careers there. I also know that they share facilities with the Pittsburgh Steelers”, said Becton.
Becton told me that he wasn’t surprised by the offer because Pitt coaches had been to his school multiple times recently.
Pitt joins Virginia as the first two Power 5 Conference schools to offer the 2017 offensive tackle. Becton believes that Tennessee could be the next school to offer him. In fact, he’s already visited Knoxville.
“So far, it was the most impressive visit I’ve taken because Tennessee showed a lot of love and treated me as though I was family”, said Becton.
Becton tells me that now that he’s been offered a visit to Pittsburgh could be next.
“Yes, I’m thinking about making a visit some time soon. ”
Mekhi Becton is a name to watch when Pitt’s recruiting for the Class of 2017 heats up.
