“Pitt Recruiting Trail”

It’s going to be impossible  for Pitt to top last week in terms of commitments. What a week! All but one (Quayshon Alexander) of the recruits that made an official visit ended up giving a verbal.

**Pat Narduzzi currently has 19 verbals. Question now is how many more recruits will he take?  My guess is 5 or 6 more.   These kids will always have a scholarship available: Damar Hamlin, Khaleke Hudson, Robert Washington, Jonah Morris, Quayshon Alexander and Keyshon Camp.  In my opinion, the same can’t be said for the other recruits.

**With the addition of Juwann Winfree, I’d have to guess they’re done recruiting wide receivers.   I’d also think they’ve finished with offensive lineman.

Remaining 6 scholarship positions? My guess would be:  1 QB,  RB (only Robert Washington),  1 TE (Andrew Trainer), 1 DT (Amir Watts/Keyshon Camp? ), 1 DE (Alexander/Desmond Chapple), 1 LB (Elias Reynolds), 2 DB’s (Damar Hamlin, Khaleke Hudson, Jonah Morris).

**Couple things to keep your eye on.

  1. New Jersey athlete K.J. Gray announced this morning that he’s de-committed from Boston College.  The 3-star recruit did so after BC defensive coordinator Don Brown left for Michigan. Gray then told Rivals that Pitt is one of the schools that he’s considering making an official visit to (Michigan, Maryland, Wisconsin, Rutgers)
  2. 4-star CB Tony Pride, Jr. announced that he’ll make his college decision this week and Notre Dame  is rumored to be his favorite.  Will another highly rated cornerback influence Damar Hamlin’s eventual decision??

***Heard from Pitt’s newest commitment Juwann Winfree. He told me why he decided to pull the trigger on Pitt yesterday.

“I just felt like Pitt was home.  You have to find a school where you’re 100% comfortable plus I had a great relationship with the coaches”, said Winfree.

“I really like the potential of the program.  I see where the program is headed and it’s destined for greatness.  ”

Winfree also told me that he’s coming in with the intention of earning a starting spot by showing the coaches what he can bring to the table.

**Central Catholic 2017 elite prospect CJ Thorpe picked up an offer today from Stanford. Big time player.

***Check back, I’ll add to this as I ge
