Huge day for Clairton’s Aaron Mathews as he picked up an offer from Penn State.
Just days ago, Mathews announced his 3 official visits: Pitt, West Virginia and Toledo. Obviously, the news today will change things.

“I’m excited about this offer!! Lamont Wade and I have really been waiting for this to come”, said Mathews.
I asked Mathews any idea why the offer came now and what did the coaches from Penn State say when they offered.
“I’m not sure why it came this late, anything can happen when it comes to the recruiting process. The Penn State coaches said they took a look at my senior year film and loved it”, said Mathews.
Mathews told me that Penn State coach James Franklin was the person that called him with the news. Â The senior wide receiver talked with a two Penn State assistants a couple days ago and had a feeling the offer was coming.
Mathews is an interesting recruit, someone that I’ve said has been under recruited by Power Five teams. Â The talented athlete was forced to play quarterback instead of his natural position of wide receiver.
Penn State is recruiting Mathews as an athlete, the same as West Virginia. Toledo is recruiting him as a wide receiver, while Pitt wants him as a defensive player.
“This obviously changes a couple of things for my recruiting”, said Mathews. “I’m talking to Penn State about an official visit date, we’re still trying to work that out.”
Last week, Mathews announced that he planned to make official visits to Toledo, West Virginia and Pitt. Â With only 3 weeks left to make visits, who gets dropped?
With this offer, does Penn State move to the top of Mathews list?
“If I were to make a top 2 right now, I’m not sure what it would be.”
I’d be surprised if Mathews doesn’t select Penn State.
