Hampton is a player that the Pitt coaching staff, especially CB coach Renaldo Hill, has been trying to get to visit Pittsburgh. Mission accomplished.

The Tampa native was just named 1st team defensive back for the All-Hillsborough County football team.  The strong part of Hampton’s game is his press coverage, he’s a very physical cornerback.

Aside from Pitt, Hampton also has offers from Iowa, Iowa St, Virginia, Indiana and South Florida.

Pat Narduzzi is sure attempting to stock up on defensive back prospects.   Already committed for Pitt’s Class of 2016 and 2017 are: Phil Campbell, Therran Coleman, Bricen Garner, Henry Miller, George Hill, Paris Ford and Exree Loe. Plus, Pitt is still heavily involved with cornerbacks Damar Hamlin and Tyrone Hill.

UPDATE (8:49 PM)-

Had a chance to get in touch with Tampa 2016 CB Michael Hampton,  who’s making an official visit to Pitt the weekend of January 29th.

“I’m visiting Pitt because I have a good relationship with the coaches and they were the first school to offer me”, said Hampton. “Pitt has been recruiting me since last year around this time.”

I asked Hampton to tell me what he likes most about Pitt?

“They run the type of defense I love which is man press coverage”, said Hampton.

“Coach Hill is my guy and we talk about me playing as a true freshman and me locking down the opposing teams top receiver.”

Hampton told me that he hasn’t taken any official visits yet but will start next weekend.  The Tampa cornerback says that he doesn’t have any favorites and that all schools are about even.
