Wednesday Pitt/WPIAL Recruiting News

We’re two weeks away from National Letter of Intent Day.  As you’d expect, the Pitt coaching staff will be traveling all around the country.

**Maybe the most important visit today will be done by defensive coordinator Josh Conklin.  He’s in Florida and will visit with commit Henry Miller.  The talented cornerback is being pursued by both Ohio State and Miami, Fla.  Conklin will try and convince Miller to stick with his commitment to Pitt.  I plan on taking with Miller following Conklin’s visit.

UPDATE 8:45 AM-

**Congrats to Chris Peak from Pantherlair for coming up with this nugget.  Peak is reporting that a 4-star WR plans on visiting Pitt next week.  Darnell Salomon (6-3, 195) recently decommitted from South Florida because of coaching changes and now Pitt is in the picture.  According to the story, Salomon will make official visits to Temple and Washington State the next 2 weekends.  However, he plans on coming to Pittsburgh next Tuesday through Thursday.  Pitt assistant Tim Salem visited Salomon yesterday in Miami.  I’m attempting to contact him today for an interview so check back.

UPDATE 12:14 PM-

**Just heard back from Pitt 2016 OL Zack Williams.  Talk had surfaced that Williams was considering making an official visit to West Virginia so I asked him about that.

“No,  I won’t be making anymore official visits”, said Williams.

Pitt OL coach John Peterson visited with Williams last night.

UPDATE (12:57)-

*Pitt WR coach Kevin Sherman traveled to the eastern part of the state to visit WR Darian Street.  Pitt was the first school to offer Street a scholarship. Afterwards, I talked with Street who told me that he plans on visiting Pitt soon for a basketball game and also is looking into attending Pitt’s upcoming Junior Day in February.

UPDATE (1:06 PM)-
*Fred Hansard is one of the top defensive players in the Class of 2017. He’s currently ranked as one of the top 5 defensive tackles and one of the Top 100 overall players.

Hansard is someone Pat Narduzzi has had his eye on for over a year and today he made a trip to the DT’s school in New Jersey.  Narduzzi and TE coach Tim Salem were at Hansard’s school but aren’t permitted to speak with him yet.

Currently, Hansard has offers from Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State. Within the hour, I contacted Hansard and asked him about Pitt.

“Pitt is a great program and I can see myself being a part of it. I will visit there soon. I’m not sure of the date yet, maybe in February. ”

It looks like Narduzzi and Pitt are prepared to battle some of the top programs in the country for this player.

UPDATE (3:01 PM)-
**Big day for Chicago DT Amir Watts as he’s been elevated to a 4-star by Rivals.com.  Pitt is very much in the mix for Watts.  In fact, he’ll be making an official visit to Pitt this weekend.  Could Pat Narduzzi be adding another 4-star recruit to the 2016 recruiting class?

UPDATE (3:53 PM)-
**Source tells me that after checking in on 2017 WR Darian Street, PItt WR coach Kevin Sherman did the same with 2017 4-star WR Mark Webb.  This talented wide out is from Archbishop Wood Catholic (Pa.) and is looked at as a future star.  Webb (6-2, 195) also holds offers from Penn State and North Carolina.

UPDATE (7:55 PM)-

**New York LB Elias Reynolds just confirmed to me that he’ll make his college decision on Saturday or Sunday   Reynolds will decide between Pitt and Illinois.
