Today was offer day by the coaching staff and one of the six players to receive one was OL Robert Martin.

Martin (6-5, 258) is an offensive guard for the St. Joseph’s football team in Montvale, New Jersey.

“I was out shoveling snow and when I came in, I got a message saying that Pitt had offered me”, said Martin. ” I was extremely happy and excited because I really like Coach Narduzzi and Coach Salem.”

“They’ve given me a lot of interest but I didn’t expect an offer, it was a great surprise that really made my day!”

Martin tells me that Pitt is recruiting him as an offensive guard.

Along with the offer from Pitt, Martin has offers from Rutgers, Temple, Wake Forest and Boston College.

“I have also been communicating with Penn State, Maryland, Vanderbilt, Purdue, Wisconsin, North Carolina and Kentucky.”

With all these schools talking to him, I asked him about the specific feedback he gets from coaches about his game.

“A lot of schools love how I have very fast feet and a nastiness that is unimaginable”, said Martin.

The New Jersey lineman told me that he’s planning on visiting a couple of schools soon.  Although nothing is set in stone, he’d like to go to the Rutgers Junior Day, Pitt’s Junior Day and a basketball game at Wake Forest.

Finally, I asked Martin what he knew about Pitt and the city of Pittsburgh. He followed with a great response.

“I know that Pitt has some outstanding players in the NFL and I know that food in Pittsburgh is Number 1 in the country.”
