Pitt Offers Derrius Mullins

The Pitt coaching staff had a plan yesterday to offer a bunch of 2017 prospects. All together, the coaches handed out seven offers inducing a big defensive lineman from Ohio.

Derrius Mullins (6-4, 326) is a monster defensive tackle from Columbus, Ohio who’s being recruited to Pitt by offensive line coach John Peterson.

When I asked him about the offer, Mullins said, “finally an offer in 2016! I’ve been hearing from Pitt for about a year now so I wasn’t surprised by the offer.”

Not surprisingly, the thing Mullins knows most about Pitt is that they share facilities with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Currently, Mullins holds offers from Toledo, Bowling Green, Kent State, Ohio, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia and Boston College.

Being from Columbus, I had to ask him if he’s heard from Ohio State.

“Yeah, I’m waiting on that offer and I actually just talked to Luke Fickell yesterday”, said Mullins.

The big defensive tackle tells me that he’s hearing plenty of positive feedback from coaches and also some constructive criticism.

“They want me to get out of my stance faster, stay lower and to use my hands more”, said Mullins.

Over the next couple of months, Mullins told me he plans on visiting Indiana, West Virginia, Michigan State, Ohio State and Pitt.  He’d like to come to Pittsburgh next month.
