Hamlin/ Mathews Commit To Pitt

Huge day for Pat Narduzzi and the Pitt football program as they land 2 big prospects.

Damar Hamlin was one of the top ranked cornerbacks in the country and tonight he gave his hometown school a verbal commitment.

Hamlin, who picked Pitt over Ohio State and Penn State, made the announcement at KDKA TV with Bob Pompeani.

The 4-star cornerback listed buying into Pat Narduzzi and bringing his hometown school back to prominence as reasons for picking the Panthers.

This is a major recruiting win for Narduzzi and his staff. A year ago, there’s zero chance that Hamlin would’ve committed to Pitt. However, the job that Narduzzi, Josh Conklin, Renaldo Hill and Rob Harley did got Hamlin to buy into what they were selling.

Pitt’s future secondary has some serious talent with Hamlin, Jordan Whitehead, Therran Coleman, Paris Ford, Bricen Garner and possibly Henry Miller.

The other big news of the day was Clairton’s Aaron Mathews flipping his commitment from Penn State to Pitt.

This decision came about because of Pitt’s willingness to recruit Mathews as a wide receiver.

The 3-star player dropped his commitment to Penn a State and within a couple hours joined Pitt.

Mathews will help fill the void left by 4-star wide receiver Juwann Winfree.
