News and notes on Tuesday from the WPIAL and Pitt football.
**How about the amount of offers that Central Catholic’s Kurt Hinish has picked up lately? This morning, the talented defensive tackle received an offer from the SEC- Mississippi. Including Ole Miss, Hinish (6-3, 283) now holds offers from Pitt, Baylor, Boston College, Iowa St, Vanderbilt, Louisville and West Virginia.
UPDATE (3:24 PM)-
**North Carolina 2017 QB Matt McKay messaged me to say that he’ll be visiting Pitt on February 28th. McKay was the first quarterback that received an offer from offensive coordinator Matt Canada.
UPDATE (3:32 PM)-
**Greensboro, NC QB Hendon Hooker, who Pitt recently offered, picked up an offer today from Notre Dame. Hooker (6-5, 200) threw for over 2,200 yards and ran for over 1200 yards last season, while also scoring 32 touchdowns. Hooker is another player that received an offer from OC Matt Canada.
UPDATE (4:01 PM)-
**Steel Valley RB DeWayne Murray picked up an offer today from Bowling Green, This is offer #5 for the talented running back.
UPDATE (7:21 PM)-
**Pitt has extended an offer to 4-star DT Eric Crosby from Virginia Beach, Virginia. Crosby is rated as one of the Top 120 players in the entire country and holds offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Virginia Tech and Mississippi.
UPDATE (7:26 PM)-
**Pitt offers another defensive player from Virginia. 4-star inside linebacker Ellis Brooks heard from the Pitt coaches. Brooks (6-2, 240) is rated by Rivals as one of the Top 200 players in the country. I’ll have reaction from Brooks on the offer from Pitt.
UPDATE (7:41 PM)-
**Pitt just offered a BIG player from Ohio. Charles Reeves (6-7, 230) confirmed to me that Pitt offered him tonight. Reeves is from Steubenville, Ohio and has offers from Michigan, Nebraska and Wisconsin. I’m talking to Reeves in a few minutes so check back for his reaction.
UPDATE (7:48 PM)-
4-star Charles Reeves is pretty excited about the offer from Pitt.
“I was speechless, I couldn’t say anything. It’s just a blessing to get an offer from any Division-1 school”, said Reeves.
Reeves told me that Coach Salem extended the offer to him and Pitt is recruiting him as a WR/TE. Reeves also told me he’s going to attend Pitt’s Junior Day next weekend.
UPDATE (8:01 PM)-
**Just heard from 4-star ILB Ellis Brooks who gave me his reaction to the offer from Pitt.
“I think it’s an amazing offer and a great opportunity to go play football. I am visiting (Pitt) on the 28th and I am eager to speak with the entire coaching staff especially head coach Pat Narduzzi. Coach Harley my position coach offered me and I have interest in the school.”
UPDATE (10:43 PM)-
**For the 3rd time tonight, Pitt has offered an athlete from Virginia. Tahj Capehart (Virginia Beach, Va.) received the offer. Capehart (5-10, 185) is being recruited to played wide receiver and has offers from Arizona State, Miami Fla, North Carolina, Nebraska, Ohio State, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Virginia Tech. From what I’m told, Coach Sherman made the offer to Capehart. Pitt is making a real effort to get into the state of Virginia.
