Sichterman Excited About Pitt

Offensive line is going to be a position that Pitt prioritizes for the upcoming recruiting class.   Ohio OT Matt Sichterman is a player that they’re targeting and he’ll be in town this weekend.

Sichterman (6-5, 265) currently holds 16 offers including ones from Pitt, Nebraska, Oregon State, Purdue, Rutgers,  West Virginia, Wake Forest and Illinois.  Sichterman received his offer from OL coach John Peterson 2 weeks ago.

“I’m really excited to make the trip to Pitt this weekend.  They’re one of my top choices right now and I’m looking forward to getting closer with the coaching staff and seeing what Pitt is all about”, said Sichterman.

“I’m looking forward to meeting with all the coaches, as well as seeing the facilities and campus and seeing if the overall atmosphere and setting is one I’m comfortable in.  Also finding a school with good engineering is very important to me.  The #1 thing I’ll be asking Pitt coaches is where they see me playing at and if engineers on the team is a common thing”, said Sichterman.

As you can probably tell, Sichterman is a really impressive and intelligent kid,  holding a 4.3 GPA.

Although the 3-star lineman has never been to Pittsburgh, he tells me that he’s impressed and appreciates the Pitt fan base.

“Ever since I was offered by Pitt many fans /alum have followed me and reached out to me and it really gives me a sense of Pitt tradition and the following I would receive being a Pitt Panther. I’ve never been to Pittsburgh, but I have seen pictures and the city looks beautiful, and I’ve heard nothing but great things about the campus and academic achievement.”

Following his weekend at Pitt, Sichterman tells me that he’ll visit Indiana on March 6, then either West Virginia or Nebraska the next weekend.

Taking into account all the offers he has, Sichterman gave me his Top 5- “Pitt, Nebraska, Illinois, Cincinnati and Rutgers.”

“I will commit when I find that a school is the right fit, could be later this summer or during the fall but could be later, just depends.”
