Many of the 30+ recruits attending Pitt’s Junior Day already have an offer from them. New Jersey DE Mike Tverdov is one of the players that doesn’t but is hoping that changes.
Tverdov (6-3, 221) is a defensive end from Union, New Jersey and holds offers from Boston College, Duke, Rutgers, Temple and Central Florida. It will be a busy couple days for Tverdov, Saturday in State College and Sunday in Pittsburgh.

“Coach Narduzzi and Coach Salem have already visited me in person a few times and have been in contact with me on Twitter a lot. I’m really excited and cannot wait to see the school. The coaches haven’t told me anything about an offer yet but they like me a lot. They’ve wanted to get me on campus for a while now”, said Tverdov. “If they don’t offer me I would like to ask them what do I have to do to earn a scholarship from Pitt.”
I asked Tverdov to describe himself as a player and what his strengths are.
“I would describe myself as a hardworking leader on and off the field. Every coach I have met, the first thing they have mentioned is my motor and toughness. I may not be the fastest or strongest player on the field but no one will beat me to the ball consistently every single play.”
Sounds like a Pat Narduzzi type football player to me.
Following his visits to Penn State and Pitt, Tverdov will be visiting Syracuse, Duke, North Carolina, Rutgers and Temple. However, his focus this weekend is making his first visit to Pittsburgh.
“I have never been to Pitt but I have heard great things about them and from what I’ve seen on television they are legit”, said Tverdov. “I’ll be looking for that great football atmosphere up at Pitt!! I will be looking forward to seeing nice facilities and feeling a good family atmosphere up there. I’ll also be interested to meet the defensive line coach and see how he does things with his guys. Lastly, academic presentation, that will be crucial when I make my decision.”
Aside from the offers I previously mentioned, Tverdov is getting interest from Iowa, West Virginia, Indiana and UConn.
“I will commit when the time is right, whether that’s next week or on National Signing Day.”
