The Pitt coaching staff  extended an offer to a player that visited the school earlier this month.

3-star DE Mike Tverdov (Union, New Jersey) received a call today from the Pitt coaching staff who gave him the good news.  Tverdov was hoping to receive that offer earlier this month but stayed patient and positive and was rewarded today.

“It it meant a lot! I knew Pitt was going to offer me. It was just a matter of time for them to actually make the move”, said Tverdov. “Coach Salem called my head coach and told him they wanted to offer me. They said they are looking for guys like me and I will fit well in their system.  After evaluating me and contacting me these last few months they finally offered me.”

Following today’s offer from Pitt, Tverdov now holds offers from Boston College, Duke, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Temple and Central Florida.

“The offer came a little sooner that I expected. I expected them to offer me when they would’ve came in during the evaluation period next month”, said Tverdov.

So what’s next for the New Jersey defensive end?  He tells me that he plans on visiting Duke on April 2nd and Rutgers on April 16th.

Remember, Tverdov visited Pittsburgh earlier this month for Pitt’s Junior Day and came away very impressed.

“When I visited, I loved how they do a lot of things with the Steelers and they interact with them, that’s really cool.  I also like the way the coaching staff presents family and education as an extremely important part of their program and just the city itself. I had a fun time there. Pitt is filled with opportunities on the gridiron and in the real world”, said Tverdov.

I get the sense that Tverdov was excited by the Pitt offer, so  where does Pitt now stand with him?

“Pitt sits well on my list but I’m not putting any school over or under the other yet.”
