Pitt continues offering a lot of prospects this week, today they targeted an athlete from Florida.
Stephon Zayas (6-6) is a defensive end from Dillard High School in Florida. When I asked Zayas to describe himself, he told me, “I love football, I’m very athletic, I’m a very goofy person and I love to eat wings.”
Has to be good if he loves wings, right?
Seriously, Zayas got the news last night that Pitt offered him a scholarship. That’s huge for him because it was his first offer.
“I found out by a phone call when Coach Salem offered me”, said Zayas. “Part of our conversation was about my talent and that they (Pitt) were surprised that I don’t have other offers. Coach Salem also spoke to my mom.”
Zayas told me that, “I don’t know much about Pitt other than they’re in the ACC and I love that conference.”
I asked Zayas some things that he’ll be looking for in a school.
“I’m going to be looking to get a good education. Grades are very important to me. Also, will I play early? I’ll have to visit the school to determine if they’re a good fit for me”, said Zayas.
Zayas could be one of those “diamond in the rough” prospects. I’ll be looking to get more information on him.
Late tonight, Zayas received his second offer as Central Florida offered him.
