A native of Pittsburgh will be returning to his hometown this weekend to check out the Pitt Panthers.

Kyle Nunez (6-3, 308) is an offensive guard for East Islip High School in New York.  Nunez was born in Pittsburgh and lived here for 3 years before moving to New York.

“I was completely thrilled to be invited to Pitt to visit the campus and attend practice”, said Nunez.  “I’m looking forward to developing a close relationship with the coaches as we get deeper into the process.”

“I’ll be looking to see how well the players approach each and every drill. The tempo of practices, and really get to check out Pitt’s facilities.”

Nunez is a prospect that is attracting a lot of attention from schools but is still waiting for that first offer.  Here is some of the schools that are talking to him- Rutgers, Boston College, UConn, Iowa State, Northwestern, Maryland, Navy and Purdue.

I asked him if he thinks an offer could come this weekend and what would an offer from Pitt mean to him?

“I would feel absolutely blessed and honored to receive an offer from one of my favorite university’s.  I think it’s too early in the process between us to receive an offer”, said Nunez. “I think camp is a necessity before an offer would occur. But hey if it were to happen I’m not complaining!”

“I have a very high interest in the Pitt program due to me being a diehard Steeler fan and being born in Pittsburgh. If I have an opportunity to get back, I’m gonna take it and run with it.”

Nunez tells me that Tim Salem is recruiting him for Pitt. Nunez calls him a “phenomenal man and as straight up a dude as one can be.”   The big offensive guard says he looks forward to developing a close bond with him.

Nunez will get a chance to do that this weekend as he sees Salem and the other Pitt coaches.
