Pitt Contacts Cummings

Lincoln Park’s Nelly Cummings (6-0, 170) was one of the best and most exciting players in the WPIAL last year.  The junior point guard led Lincoln Park with 23.6 PPG and was the driving force in Lincoln Park reaching the WPIAL AA Finals.

Cummings was also named to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Fab Five, the 5 best players in the WPIAL.  The talented guard has been starting for Lincoln Park since his freshman season, collecting over 1,500 points. Not can Cummings get it done on the court, but he stars in the class room as well compiling a 4.0 grade point average.

Cummings told me that he currently has offers from Cornell, Mt. St. Mary’s, St. Francis, Robert Morris, Bowling Green and NJIT and is receiving interest from Davidson, West Virginia, Indiana, Rutgers and Pitt.

Speaking of Pitt, Cummings says that, “I haven’t spoken to them directly but they called my coach this week. Pitt plays in the ACC and it would be nice for my family to be able to see me play. It’s close to home and it would mean a lot to get an offer from Pitt”, said Cummings.

Cummings says that he plans on making trips to various schools this summer and hopes to receive some more offers before making a decision.

“I don’t have a timeline on my decision.   My family and I are going to make sure we’re making the right decision.”
