Thursday Recruiting Notebook

Wow, yesterday was a huge day of recruiting news, let’s see if we can top it today.  Here goes:

**Historically, Pitt doesn’t recruit many players from Georgia but that didn’t stop them from offering a Georgia native yesterday.  Chad Terrell is a big wide receiver (6-4, 205) from Dallas, Georgia and Pitt wants him.

“I spoke with Coach Sims, we talked a good bit about the things I look for and what I want out of a school.  It was surprising because the only contact we previously received was 2 or 3 letters”, said Terrell.

“They like my size and the way I attack the ball. When the ball is in the air it’s nobody’s but mine!”

“Currently I have 20 offers from schools like Ole Miss, South Carolina, GA Tech, Syracuse, and more. Right now I will give any school a chance because I just wanna go to the best place for me”, said Terrell.

Last week, Terrell made a visit to Vanderbilt and afterwards, listed a Top 4 of Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Wake Forest and NC State.  Terrell explained to me that Top 4 doesn’t mean much.

“No sir, it does not because that top four might now be a place where I can play a lot early and fit in, not saying it isn’t but you have to be sure! Right now, I’m waiting till spring football ends and I will see what schools rank amongst my Top 5 and probably visit each one”, said Terrell.

“My biggest factors are:

1- the coaches and players who I’m truly committing to not just the school
2- school in my academics(advertising management)
3- How I can be developed into an NFL receiver
4- The area around me

UPDATE (11:44 AM)-

**Pitt has offered Miami 2018 SS/FS Randy Russell from Carol City High School. Russell (5-11, 172) also has offers from Iowa State, Indiana, Cincinnati, Central Florida and a few MAC schools.

UPDATE (2:01 PM)-

**Just heard back from 2018 Miami safety Randy Russell who was offered by Pitt today.

“I go to an Alternative school for special studies so my coach just told me I got the offer when I went to practice”, said Russell.  “Pitt is my first ACC offer so of course I was excited.  The ACC is a great conference. ”

I asked Russell is there something that stands out most to him about Pitt?

“Pitt’s tradition stands out the most.  They’re not too flashy but they play old fashion FOOTBALL.”

UPDATE (2:27 PM)-

**Interesting offer just made by Pitt to a Florida athlete.  Darrian McNeal from Seffner, Florida picked up the offer   McNeal (5-10, 175) plays QB for Armwood High School.  I’m guessing that because of his size, Pitt is recruiting him as an athlete.  McNeal has an offer list from Arizona, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Syracuse, Louisville, Iowa State, Georgia Tech, Boston College and Arizona.
