Pitt Offers Tampa Bay DE

The fact that the state of Florida is a hotbed for high school football talent is a huge reason why the Pitt coaches have already offered over 50 scholarships to Florida athletes this recruiting period.

The latest athlete from the Sunshine State to hear from Pitt is Tampa Bay 2018 defensive end/tight end Jonathan King.

“I was told I got the offer while at home relaxing, kind of like, Hey you got an offer from Pitt (conversation between me and my coach). It was great feeling and I’m glad I was given the opportunity to continue my education at a school like Pitt”, said King.

King tells me that he has 11 offers including ones from Florida, Miami Fla., Iowa State, Penn State, Rutgers, Ole Miss, South Florida and Kentucky.

The sophomore just received the Pitt offer so he’ll now start to do some research on the football program and the school.

“I haven’t really looked into Pitt yet but it seems like a great school with a great football program so I’m excited.  Plus, they’re in the ACC, I mean that’s big boy football and I’m just glad that they offered me”, said King.

If you’re in the 10th grade and already have major D-1 offers, you have talent and are a major recruit, that’s what Jonathan King is.  He tells me that his strength is getting off the ball and getting to the quarterback.

“I chase after the ball and make the effort required to make plays.  I feel that I’m a pass rusher more than anything and I get to the quarterback.”

King says that as of now he doesn’t have any plans to make out of town visits and that it’s still early in the process for him.
