Tuesday Pitt/WPIAL News

Before I get into today’s recruiting news, I just wanted to thank you for the great site numbers we had yesterday.  We registered our highest numbers in nearly a month.   Thank you.

**Yesterday I hinted to you that I had some news of a visitor to Pitt this week. I didn’t want to jeopardize the visit so I’d delay in printing it.   It’s now ok for me to let you know who I was referring to.

Last night, New Jersey quarterback Kenny Pickett de-committed from Temple and I’m told that he will be in town this week.  Pickett will be on campus with his parents this Thursday into Friday.

Im told by someone close to Pickett that “he was very excited about the Pitt offer.  He has a very high interest in Pitt and wants to get on campus to get a feel for the school.”

I should also note that Pickett recently had a very good to Boston College.

UPDATE (8:35 PM)-
**It looks as though the WPIAL is going to be adding another high level recruit to its Class of 2017.

Grant Carrigan is 6’7, 232 senior. He started on the #1 ranked team in the nation in Bishop Gorman last year at tight end. His dad has cancer, and he is moving to Pittsburgh to get UPMC treatment. He will be transferring to the WPIAL, it will be Central Catholic unless he gets denied eligibility by the WPIAL. Since he went to a private school his whole life and has hardship with his dad being sick, he will probably be eligible to play. He is a 3-star recruit on 247sports and has an offer from Kent State.

UPDATE (1:10 PM)-
**I’m still trying to find out who but I’m told the Pity football coaches were out visiting New Castle High School today.  I would imagine they were checking in on 2018 WR/CB Marcus Hooker.

UPDATE (3:41 PM)-
**I’ve confirmed that Pitt linebacker coach Rob Harley was at New Castle today checking in on Marcus Hooker and 2017 athlete Geno Stone.  I just got a message back from Stone and here’s what he told me.

“He wants Marcus and I to attend the Pitt camp on June 5th and we’ll go from there”, said Stone who’s hoping to receive an offer from Pitt.

UPDATE  (7:55 PM)-
**Clairton athlete Noah Hamlin received an offer today from Cincinnati.

UPDATE (9:05 PM)-
**Pitt extends offer to Charlotte, NC TE Jeremiah Hall, which is his 17th offer.  Hall (6-3, 225) is from Vance H.S and I’ll have an interview with him posted soon.

UPDATE (9:22 PM)-
**Pickerington, Ohio RB Morgan Ellison tells me that he’ll be coming to Pittsburgh on June 5th for the Pitt football camp.  Ellison is a player that’s been standing out in recent camps and I wouldn’t be surprised if he lands an offer soon from Pitt.

UPDATE (10:10 PM)-
**Pitt has offered a BIG offensive lineman from West Virginia.   Seth Orlando Stewart is 6-9, 320 lbs.  No, he’s not a basketball player, Stewart is an offensive tackle from Point Pleasure, West Virginia.  Not only is Stewart big but he’s also committed to another school.  Stewart has given a verbal commitment to Marshall and also has offers from Arkansas and Louisville.
