Heyward Visiting Pitt This Week

Published

Football fans in Pittsburgh are all familiar with the last name of Heyward.  First it was because of former Pitt All-American Craig “Ironhead” Heyward.  Now, his oldest son, Cam, is the leader of the Pittsburgh Steelers defense.   There’s a possibility of a Hat Trick of Heyward football players in Pittsburgh.

Connor Heyward (6-2, 215)  is a 2017 wide receiver from Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, Georgia and the younger brother of Steeler great Cam Heyward.  Connor is getting recruited heavily by Pitt and plans on visiting the Panthers this week.

Obviously, Heyward has been to Pittsburgh and the South Side plenty of times so what in particular is he going to be focusing on when he visits this week?

“I went on an unofficial visit to Pitt and it wasn’t footbal season so I didn’t get to see them workout or practice which I really want to see”, said Heyward.  I talk to the Pitt coaches almost everyday, if not everyday.  I talk to Coach Narduzzi, Coach Sherman, Coach Harley, Coach Kabala and a few more.”

“Pitt is recruiting me as a wide receiver but I’ll play defense too if I can. My biggest strength on the field are my hands and being able to catch the ball in traffic and being versatile.”

Aside from Pitt, Heyward has offers from Arizona State, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Rutgers and Vanderbilt.

” I don’t really have a Top 3 or 4. I’m taking recruiting slowly and rushing anything”, said Heyward. “I don’t have a time frame, whenever my family and I think is the best time to commit is when I will.”
