Over the next couple of months, the Pitt football team will be getting plenty of out of town recruits making visits. Next week, an out of town linebacker is making the trip and he’s coming all the way from Alabama.

Back on May 3rd, Cam Bright received a scholarship offer from Pitt and now he wants to come check out the campus.  Bright (6-1, 210) is a middle linebacker for Park Crossing High School in Montgomery, Alabama.

This afternoon, I talked with Bright about the trip and what he’s looking to see when he makes his first visit to Pittsburgh.

“The things I look forward to on my trip to Pitt will be meeting the whole coaching staff, and getting that good feeling while on campus, feeling a great atmosphere, and enjoying myself. I want to find out the different things the university has to offer to me as a student-athlete”, said Bright.

When receiving the offer from Pitt, it was a big moment for Bright because it was his first Power 5 offer.  He also holds offers from Bowling Green and Miami of Ohio but obviously an offer from a school in the ACC is a big deal.

“When I got the Pitt offer from Coach Hill it was an instant feeling of joy. It was definitely a team at the top of my chart, I was very interested in the offer. He said the coaches watched my film and loved how I played the game. They want to recruit me at the linebacker position”, said Bright.

“My strength as a player is my mental aspect of the game, the passion, and my break down at point of attack in a ball carrier. College coaches say they “love my ability to break down on a ball carrier, it’s like I mirror their footsteps when running.”

Having a potential recruit make a trip from Ohio is one thing but making a visit all the way from Alabama is another.  That’s a long trip so Bright obviously thinks a great deal about the Pitt program.

“It’s definitely a far travel but it shows my commitment and seriousness in the university. I will be bringing my mom with me, because I want Pitt to show her a good time as well! The biggest thing that attracts me to Pitt is the four football fields. Two of them being Pitt’s, and the other two being the Pittsburgh Steelers!”

“There is a slight chance of commitment but only time will tell.”
