Next Saturday, Pitt is conducting their first football camp of the summer on the South Side. It will be an opportunity for the coaching staff to evaluate players and for those players to try to show the coaches that they deserve a scholarship. One of the players that will be traveling to Pittsburgh and looking to make an impression is Virginia athlete Ben Maffe.
Maffe (6-3, 222) is a wide receiver/tight end from Briar Woods High School in Ashburn, Virginia. At this point Maffe holds offers from Navy, Marshall, Army, Harvard and Yale but is hoping one will come soon from Pitt.

Pitt made contact recently with the Virginia athlete and he’s jumping on the chance to travel to Pittsburgh on June 5.
“Pitt reached out to me after I sent my film, the director of video operations said their tight ends coach liked me, and that he would like to work with me at camp”, said Maffe.
” Pitt’s recruiting me as an H-back tight end type. I think what makes me different is even though I’m a decent size, I’m mobile and quick for my size and hard to cover. I’m excited to work with the coaches and meet them at the camp and that I get a chance to perform for them.”
One one of the reasons Maffe is so excited about the visit is that his family has a history at Pitt. His father attended Pitt and as the president of his fraternity.
“My dad went to Pitt and always talks about the tradition. He always talks about how exciting game days were and what it’s like to be in such an amazing area who loves their college team”, said Maffe.
“It would mean the world to me to get an offer from Pittsburgh because my dad went there and I’ve grown up having Pitt be my dream school my whole life and my dads excited that I am being considered and is proud that I have the chance to do this. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the Pitt program and can’t wait to get my own experience up there.”
