3 Players To Keep Eye On

Published

Kevin Stallings and his staff are continuing to finish out the 2016 recruiting class and add to their Class of 2017.   Last night, I received a message from a “Little Panther” (source) with some interesting information.

This person told me to “keep an eye on these names.”  The next day, one of these players received an offer from Pitt.  The 3 names were Alex O’Connell, Andrew Platek, Aaron Wheeler.

This Alex O’Connell announced that he just picked up a scholarship offer from Pitt. O’Connell (6-6, 170) is a 2017 shooting guard from Milton, Georgia and holds offers from Arizona State, Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Georgia, Clemson, Auburn, Mississippi and Kansas State.

O’Connell told Matt Steinbeck from rivals.com that he’ll definitely visit Pitt and that after making some visits, he plans on making a decision in July.

As far as the 2 other names, Platek (6-4, 190) shooting guard from Northfield, Mass and plays for Mt. Hermon High School, which has produced over 50 Division-1 players.

Platek plays for Albany City AAU where he shot over 54% from 3 pt range and averaged 14.6 PPG.  In the last month, Platek received 2 huge offers: North Carolina and Indiana.   The 2017 guard also has offers from Penn State, St. Joe’s, Stanford, Rutgers, Miami (Fla), and Butler.

As far as Aaron Wheeler, he’s a 6-5 forward from Barrington, Rhode Island and holds offers from LaSalle, Providence, Rhode Island, St. Joe’s and Duquesne.
