Thompson High On Pitt

Pitt has scholarship offers out to approximately 18 wide receivers in the Class of 2017 and 9 of those players are from the state of Florida, the latest being Antoine Thompson from Plant City.

Thompson (6-1, 173) got the news a few days ago that Pitt was interested and appears to have gained an instant connection with the Panthers.

“The Pitt offer from Coach Sherman was a big one! I wasn’t surprised when it came because I had been talking to Coach Harley for a while”, said Thompson. “I’ve been talking with the Pitt coaches about once a week.”

“Pitt is very high on academics, has great football tradition and is a nice college football town.”

Now with Pitt jumping aboard, the 3-star wideout has offers from Arizona, Iowa State, Louisville, Miami (FL), Mississippi State, Missouri, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin.

I asked Thompson what player he tries to pattern his game/play after and you’ll be familiar with his role model.

“Antonio Brown is who I compare myself to. The biggest strength of my game is yards and plays I make after catching the ball.  I’ve been working hard this offseason on getting better at high pointing the ball.”

As noted earlier, Thompson has a very impressive list of schools that have offered him.  Any early favorites?

“No tops right now but I will have some soon. Coming up, I’m going on a bus tour of schools in early June and tomorrow I’ll be visiting Mississippi State and then more throughout the summer”, said Thompson.

The last thing Thompson said to me as we wrapped up the interview is, “Pitt will be high on my list.”
