Tuesday Pitt Recruiting Notes

Published

on

This morning I was setting up future video interviews with possible Pitt recruits. I’ve arranged two for later today (one recruit from the state of Florida), so check back and see. You’ll be seeing more of these in the future on the site.

**According to Rivals.com, Pitt has extended an offer Damarri Mathis, a 3-star cornerback from Lakeland, Florida. Pitt has now offered scholarships to over 50 players in the state of Florida, by far the most of any state. Mathis (5-11, 178) also holds offers from Cincinnati, South Carolina and Central  Florida.

UPDATE (2:47 PM)-
**2018 LB Javar Garrett from Carney’s Point, New Jersey is currently at the Pitt facility visiting the Panthers. Garrett doesn’t have an offer yet from Pitt but is hoping that changes. However, he does hold offers from Indiana, Rutgers and Temple.

“I’m very impressed by Pitt! I’ve seen pretty much everything including academic buildings, dorms and all the sports facilities”, said Garrett. “What stood out to me the most was the players being able to interact with the Steelers coaching staff and the players and being able to learn from them.”

Pitt didn’t offer a scholarship today but Garrett told me that he’s returning to Pittsburgh this Sunday to work out for the Pitt coaches, something they wanted him to do before possibly offering.

UPDATE (3:05 PM)-
**3-star cornerback Josiah Scott from Fairfield, Ohio tells me that he plans on visiting Pitt sometime in the next couple of weeks. Scott was just offered a scholarship by Pitt last week.

UPDATE (4:39 PM)-
**Some basketball news, per Julius Kim (@JKim97)  of Phenom Hoop Report, 4-star center Victor Uyaelunmo will visit Pitt on June 28th.  will be visiting Tennessee tomorrow. Uyaelunmo (7-0, 215) holds offers from Florida, Florida State, Memphis, Miami Fla, Tennessee, Wake Forest and Illinois.
