Pitt coaches are not only trying to get commitments from kids in the Class of 2017, but they’re also trying to make impressions with players in 2018. One of those players will be on campus tomorrow.

Alex Reigelsperger (6-4, 222) is a DE/TE from Wayne High School in Huber Heights, Ohio. This Junior prospect holds offers from Pitt, Iowa, Kentucky, Iowa, Purdue and Rutgers.

“I’m excited, extremely excited, I’ve heard wonderful things about Pitt from our head coach, Jay Minton. I’m going to be getting a full tour of the facility along with watching them practice, so I’m excited to see everything,” said Reigelsperger.

“I talk mostly to Coach Peterson, our relationship has developed greatly. He’s come into our school a couple of times and we talk about 2 times a week. He was the one who offered me as well.”

Reigelsperger tells me that of his 15 offers, Pitt is in his top 3 because of being in the ACC and the “amazing facilities.” He also says that he has interest in Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan State and Kentucky.

When he arrives tomorrow, I asked Reigelsperger what his trip will consist of?

“I’m coming with my brother, we will be touring the weight room, the fields and just seeing everything Pitt has to offer as a program.”

What questions will this junior athlete have for Pat Narduzzi and his coaching staff?

“I’m going to ask them about where they would like me to play, the graduation rate, academic benefits for athletes, along with the coach and player bond that exists,” said Reigelsperger.

Following his trip to Pitt, Reigelsperger has a busy summer planned.

“I plan on visiting Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Michigan Notre Dame along with Iowa and Ohio State and the 2 trips to Pitt.”

Despite just entering his junior season, this rising prospect might not be far away from making a college decision.

“I’m getting very serious, I believe my commitment is coming sooner than anyone knows. I see myself as an early commitment. I would like to be committed to a university (not sure which one) before my Junior Season.”
