Wednesday Pitt Recruiting Notes

Published

on

It’s been a busy day in terms of recruiting news for the Pitt Panthers. Two commitments (as of now) and one big offer extended.

**About a week after visiting the facility, Pitt decided to pull the trigger and offer 2018 4-star DE/DT Dante Stills (6-4, 265), the son of former West Virginia great Gary Stills. Dante (Fairmont, West Virginia) already holds offers from West Virginia, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Marshall. I hope to talk with Stills later this evening.

UPDATE (4:08 PM)-
**More big Pitt recruiting news, 4-star athlete Bruce Judson announced on Twitter that he will be visiting Pittsburgh “all next week.” Like Sibley, Judson is a former commit to Urban Meyer and Ohio State. Judson is a BIG-time recruit that the entire Pitt staff is trying to get. I hope to talk with Judson in a few minutes.

UPDATE (7:06 PM)-
**Kevin Stallings has offered an under recruited kid in the Class of 2018. Forward Bryce Golden (6-7, 220) from Saint James School (Hagerstown, Maryland) picked up an offer today from the Panthers. To this point, Golden’s biggest offer has been from Penn State.

UPDATE (7:11 PM)-
**Mars 2018 shooting guard Robby Carmody picked up 2 offers today- one from Stanford and another one from Northwestern.

UPDATE (7:22 PM)-
**Not a surprise that Pitt has offered 2018 defensive tackle Aeneas Hawkins (Cincinnati, Ohio). Hawkins, who attends the same high school as incoming freshman quarterback Thomas MacVittie, has already been offered by Notre Dame, Tennessee, Florida and Florida State. He’ll obviously be a priority recruit for Pitt.

UPDATE (8:10 PM)-
*Hawkins just sent me a message and gave his reaction to getting an offer from Pitt.

“I was thrilled! It’s like things have come full circle since my granddad played there,” said Hawkins. “I got on the phone with Coach Simms and that’s when he extended the offer my way.”

I asked him if Pitt is likely to be a serious contender for him?

“Absolutely. I’m very excited about this one.”

UPDATE (8:14 PM)-
**4-star TE Charles Reeves (Steubenville, Ohio) told me that he plans on coming to Pittsburgh to visit next week. Reeves (6-5, 240) said that he’s likely to be here on June 25th. Reeves holds offers from Wisconsin, Rutgers, Nebraska, Michigan State, Michigan, Kentucky and Illinois.
