Gonzaga High School (Washington DC) center Johnny Jordan is a player that the Pitt coaches have been recruiting heavily for the last few months. Jordan attended Pitt’s Junior Day in February and made a return to Pittsburgh yesterday.
Jordan (6-2, 295) is a big, physical offensive line prospect that could be a mainstay on anyone’s line for 3-4 years. This afternoon, I had a chance to talk to Jordan about his time spent at Pitt.
“I visited Pitt while my team was competing in the 7on7 tournament and the Big Man Challenge. I figured I should take advantage of the opportunity while I was up there,” said Jordan.
“It was my second time getting to Pitt. I really liked the Pitt campus and the city of Pittsburgh. It was really nice and similar to DC where I go to school.”
Like many of the other recruits that I spoke with, Jordan gave Pitt and the visit high marks.
“I would grade the day very high. It was awesome to finally get on campus and hang out with the coaches and see what Pitt has to offer,” said Jordan.
“I had a great time hanging out with the coaches and spent most of my time with coach Peterson and Powell. I really liked them. Also I got to sit down with coach Narduzzi for about an hour and that was a great conversation. ”
“Pitt is telling me that they can win in their conference and that because of how many guys they are losing to graduation, that I would have a chance to compete for early playing time.”
So, what’s next for Jordan and where does Pitt rank on his list?
“Pitt is definitely a school that I am seriously considering but I don’t know if i will get back up there before my decision. I would like to commit before the school year starts for me and Pitt is a school that I am definitely considering.”
