Saturday Pitt Recruiting Notes

Published

on

As I told you earlier this week, Joe Steigerwald, my partner at Pittsburgh Sports Now.com and I met last night to discuss the future of the site. We discussed things like our day-day coverage of the upcoming Pitt football season, how we plan on staffing it, dates for our “Pitt Football Watch Parties,” site re-design, funding and marketing ideas.  We’ll have more details on this in the upcoming weeks.

Of course, if you’d like to help us or know anyone that would be interested, you can- 1) donate to the site (info on the home page) or 2) email me at mvukovcan@gmail.com.

** Florida athlete Bruce Judson, one of Pitt’s top targets and one of the most talented players in the country, announced that he plans of cutting down his long list of scholarship offers down to 5 very soon. This former Ohio State commit has offers from most of the elite programs in the country.  Pitt coaches and the Pitt fans have been recruiting Judson very hard, will Pitt make the cut?

UPDATE (8:38 AM)-

**3-star wide receiver Dontavius Butler will announce his Final 6 sometime today. The Florida wide receiver will undoubtedly include Pitt in this list and plans on visiting Pitt this summer. I’ve forecasted Butler has being an eventual Pitt commitment.

UPDATE (12:20 PM)-

**Pitt basketball coach Kevin Stallings continues to recruit high level recruits. This afternoon, Stallings is watching 4-star forward Kimani Lawrence (6-6, 180) from New Hampton, New Hampshire. Lawrence is ranked as one of the top 50 players in the Class of 2017.

UPDATE (7:30 PM)-

** Big news out of the WPIAL and heard first on Pittsburgh Sports Now,  one of the top players of the Class of 2018 could be transferring to a defending state champ and one of the top programs in the area. Our sources confirmed this junior will know Monday whether or not he is admitted into Central Catholic. The addition of this rising prospect to the Viking’s rosters already bursting with Division 1 talent. We will have this exclusive report Monday once notified of the decision

** Though it is not official yet, all signs are pointing to University Prep’s Kenny Robinson committing to West Virginia. The 3-star outside linebacker was also considering Pitt, Virginia Tech and Cincinnati.
