Thursday Recruiting Notebook

Good morning to everyone! I don’t want to be a broken record but yesterday was another tremendous day for traffic. In fact, we were a few hundred page views from having our best day ever. Trust me, your response to what we’re doing is a huge motivator for us.

UPDATE (9:32 AM)-
** Couple things I’m working on today are a couple of possible Pitt commitments in the near future. Here’s what I know. One recruit that I talked to yesterday is hoping to fly here tomorrow. If that happens, I would expect Pitt to get a commitment. Then there’s another situation that I’m hoping to give you details on shortly. Stay tuned.

UPDATE (10:22 AM)-
** A Pitt basketball target picked up another big offer today. ESPN’s Adam Finkelstein reports that 2017 SG Darryl Morsell (Baltimore, MD) received an offer today from Bob Huggins and West Virginia. Within the last week, Morsell also received offers from Pitt, Maryland and Virginia Tech.

UPDATE  (1:21 PM)-
** Big news courtesy Mike White of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Beaver Falls 4-star DT Donovan Jeter plans on enrolling in college early (January). That means that Jeter will likely make a decision in November or December.

UPDATE  (2:06 PM) by Alan Saunders-
**Watch list season is in full swing. Today, three Panthers were nominated as finalists for the Wuerffel Trophy for community service. Yes, Danny Wuerffel has a college football trophy named after him. No, I didn’t know, either.

Adam Bisnowaty, Mike Caprara and James Conner were all nominated and Pitt is the only FBS program with three selections, according to the Pitt media relations staff.

As with most watch list items, this is essentially meaningless, but it is nice to see three genuine guys who have accomplished a lot off the field in their time at Pitt be recognized.

UPDATE (3:33 PM)-
**Here’s an update on a big-time talent that Pat Narduzzi and the Pitt assistants have been after for awhile. New Jersey 4-star DT Fred Hansard talked with NJ.com and gave some new information.

Hansard tells NJ.com that he’s “hoping to make my decision definitely before the season.”

Hansard tells the newspaper that he’ll be visiting Florida this weekend and also wants to visit Rutgers and Penn State before the end of July.

NJ.com says that although Hansard hasn’t said this, it appears that Florida, Rutgers, Penn State and Tennessee are the leaders.

UPDATE (9:16 PM)-
**Today on Twitter, I’ve hinted that their could be a recruit visiting tomorrow but I’ve just learned that isn’t going to happen. This out of state recruit just told me that he wouldn’t be coming tomorrow but that he would be coming next Friday with his mother. If this does happen, I would expect for Pitt to receive another commitment soon after.
