You ain’t seen nothin’ yet. We’re just getting started. The best is yet to come. Etcetera, etcetera, yada yada yada. Look, you get it. These are all the cliches that get thrown out every time these things get written.

And they’re all true! Well for Pittsburgh Sports Now anyway. (I can’t speak the other sites who peddle that kind of pablum.)

Because this really is the beginning for us. When we launched the site last November, the Pitt football season was winding down. And to be honest, we didn’t know what we really had. Our numbers out of the gate were strong. Strong enough that we were plagued by servers that couldn’t handle the daily visitors. So we upgraded, and then we upgraded again, and then again, after hitting over 60,000 page views in a single day. It was a constant struggle. But we survived, nay THRIVED. We just didn’t make any money from it. Fortunately you, the readers came through in big ways, donating to help us cover the costs of servers and other expenses. (And you can still donate, hint hint.)

Our recruiting stories were popular, but we needed more. So we added Tim Benz as a columnist, then we added Alan Saunders to cover Pitt, and bring you exclusives like these interviews with Lamont Wade.

Which brings us to now.

Now were ready. Thanks to our new sponsors, ProTapes, Cupka’s 2, Archie’s, and Thompson Law Group, we’re ready to cover Pitt football better than anyone else in the city. Because, let’s be honest, we wouldn’t be here if there wasn’t a gaping hole in the coverage provided by the other, more established outlets in the city. Fortunately, you the fans, our readers, have proved that there’s a hunger for more Pitt coverage. And we’re going to provide it.

We’ll be at practice. We’ll be at the games. We’ll be photographing the games. We’ll be in the locker rooms. We’ll be at the press conferences.

We plan on having Alan Saunders at, at least, every home game providing full coverage. We’re also going to have the talented David Hague on the sidelines, providing us with pictures of all the action.

And, of course there’s our watch parties! We’re teaming up with Cupka’s and Archie’s in the Southside to throw watch parties for a bunch of Pitt football and basketball games. The schedule is yet to be officially finalized, but needless to say, we will let you know. If you want invitations, we strongly suggest you sign up for our mailing list.

Did I mention the podcast? Oh yeah, we’re going to be bringing you a weekly podcast. We haven’t finalized it, or decided on a start date, yet. But we will be launching it before the Pitt football season officially begins. That we can promise you. (We’re also looking for a sponsor, if you know any business looking to advertise).

We have a few other things up our sleeve as well, but how much we expand really depends on you, the reader. We’d love to expand our WPIAL coverage, improve the website, crush our enemies… So we can’t thank you enough for all the encouraging words, sharing of stories, retweets, likes, page views, ad clicks. And we ask for you to continue. Let us know how we’re doing, share our stories with your friends, your enemies (i.e. people who went to Penn State), co-workers, bosses; everybody! Spread the word, Pittsburgh Sports Now is just getting started.

And remember, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet. (Ahem.)

The best is yet–

Okay, we’re done.
