Saturday Recruiting Notes

** 2 more days till it begins…

** Received some recruiting news yesterday regarding some players Pitt is involved with.

3-star Jake Lichtenstein (Weston, Florida) had Pitt in his Final 6 but didn’t include them in his Final 3. Lichtenstein took his list from 6 down to 3: USC, California and Virginia. Want to wish Jake all the best with his final decision.

Aliquippa 2018 4-star safety Kwantel Raines announced on Twitter that he’s been extended an invitation to attend IMG Academy in Florida. It’s not clear if Raines is going to make the move. Also, former Pitt commitment and current Johnstown cornerback Exree Loe was also given the chance to attend IMG but he declined.

UPDATE (8:38 AM)-

** Has the potential to be a big day for Pitt because one of the top players in the Class of 2018 will announce his decision today. New Jersey 4-star WR Justin Shorter will make his decision this morning  at 1130 AM. Shorter’s Final 5 teams are Pitt, Penn State, Rutgers, Virginia Tech and North Carolina.

Where is Shorter leaning? Well Shorter visited Penn State last Saturday and I believe his last visit was to Pitt earlier this week. From all indications, had a good visit to Pitt but he really liked Penn State. Was Pitt able to close the gap? We’ll find out at 1130 AM.

UPDATE (11:05 AM)-

** Interesting announcement today from one of the top recruits in Pennsylvania. Beaver Falls 4-star defensive tackle Donovan Jeter said today that his first official visit will be September 17 to Notre Dame. This is interesting because Jeter didn’t have Notre Dame in his final five teams.

UPDATE (11:12 AM)-

** The Pitt football ticket office announced today that they’ve set a new school record for season tickets sold (53,775).  Nice job Panther fans.

UPDATE (11:33 AM)-

** As expected, 2018 WR Justin Shorter made a verbal commitment to Penn State. Despite visiting Pitt this week and having them in the Top 5, Shorter was considered a Penn State lean.
