Pitt head basketball coach Kevin Stallings is looking to add at least two big men to the Panthers’ 2017 recruiting class. Assistant coach Jeremy Ballard has targeted 6-foot-9 inch, 225 pound Monticello (MS) power forward KeyShawn Feazell.

Feazell averaged 17.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game in 30 games for Lawrence County High School his junior season. He shot 30 percent from 3 (22 of 74) in 2015-16.

“I have been in contact with Coach Ballard for a while. He’s got me interested in the Pitt program,” stated Feazell. In a recent tweet, the rugged forward named Pitt, Mississippi State, Iowa State, Baylor and Alabama his top 5 schools. “I plan on visiting all of my top schools, Pitt being one of them.”

“I’m still in the process of learning about their program. I don’t know much about the Panthers. I’ve been talking to Coach Ballard for a while and he’s a really good guy.”

Coach Stallings has openly stated that he’s pleased with the talent on the Panthers current roster but he frequently has referred to his team as ‘undersized’. Feazell’s size, versatility and athleticism are something that will be desperately needed after the loss of seniors Michael Young and Jamel Artis.

“I bring energy to the basketball court. I have been working on my outside shooting. I have always been able to shoot,” he said. “My ball handling is something I work on as well. I can spread the floor.”

Feazell was specific about what he’s looking for in his future destination. “I want to go to a school where I feel comfortable and fit in. I want to enjoy myself,” he said. “Playing time is important to me as well. I want to play major minutes as a freshman.”

“I’m open when it comes to conference and location. I’m really open at this point. I’m not sure if I’ll like leaving Mississippi or staying in Mississippi. I’m kind of in between right now. The right school could change all that. It could help my decision.”

Feazell will be visiting Iowa State on August 20th. He wants to lock down visits to his other favorite school as soon as possible.
