Thursday Pitt Notes

Published

on

Remember that tonight is the annual Pitt Football FanFest at Heinz Field. The event tonight runs from 5:30 pm to 8 PM. This year’s FanFest will be a two-hour autograph and photo session with the entire Pitt football team for the general public.

** In case you missed it last night, our Harry Psaros had a few Pitt basketball recruiting notes. 2017 Top 100 player Christian David. Harry reports that David (6-7, 200) will make an official visit to Pitt next weekend (September 3rd). David, who attends Vermont Academy and is a native of Ontario, Canada, is ranked as the 83rd best player by ESPN.  David has a Final 5 of Pitt, Butler, Creighton, Oregon and Miami (FL).

** Psaros also reports that current Pitt commit PG Aaron Thompson tells him that he’ll make his official visit to Pitt September 9th-11th.

** One more note from Psaros, 2018 big man Dylan Swingle (6-10, 250) will make a visit to Pittsburgh the weekend of September 17th. Swingle (Paint Valley HS in Bainbridge, Ohio) currently holds an offer from West Virginia. Last season, Swingle averaged 19 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks per game.

UPDATE (8:10 AM)-

** Hey Pitt fans, you’ll have an opportunity to watch a future Pitt Panther on television this weekend.  2017 Pitt commitment Grant Carrigan and Pine-Richland will be on ESPN this Saturday at Noon as they take on Ohio powerhouse St. Edwards. This game is part of a 10 game series of high school games that ESPN will air to open the 2016 season.

UPDATE (10:14 AM)-

** Pat Narduzzi made a couple announcements this morning prior to practice.  First and most important, RB James Conner had a checkup scan and got a clean bill of health.

** Senior walk-on wide receiver Chris Wuestner has decided to leave the team. He has already graduated and is eligible to play elsewhere immediately.

UPDATE (9:14 PM)-

** A Very bizarre thing happened tonight, probably the weirdest since we started this website in November. This morning I arranged an interview with Florida 3-star cornerback Michael Nesbitt. He was kind enough to answer all my questions late afternoon/early evening. I’m not going to go into everything he said because now it doesn’t matter. I promoted on Twitter that I’ll have a story with “a recruit with 30+ offers and Pitt interest.” Then an hour later Nesbitt commits to Kentucky. I’m kind of scratching my head over this but, oh well. Congrats to Nesbitt and good luck at Kentucky.
