Defensive tackle Cam Goode has had a really good weekend. First, his high school team, St. John’s (Washington D.C.) beat nationally ranked Central Catholic, 35-14. Now today, Goode will visit Pitt, a school that he’s very high on.
“I’m elated! Glad to have a powerhouse like Central Catholic off the slate and to start off 1-0. I thought it would be way tougher, but St. John’s came out ready, hard-hitting and too fast. I think several coaches from several universities are going to speak highly of my performance from yesterday,” said Goode.

Since he’s in town, Goode figured it was a perfect time to go visit Pitt again, a place he’s already visited a couple of times.

“My mindset for visiting is just to see and evaluate the facilities. Also, I want to see if I could see myself in this type of atmosphere, coaching wise and player wise. I asked the coaches to take this visit because I just recently had a game here, so why not take this opportunity to visit one of my favorite schools,” said Goode.
Since receiving an offer from them, Goode has shown a lot of interest in Pitt and they appear to be one of his favorites.I asked him why that is.
“Because of the coaches showing me so much love! Sending several people to come watch me ball against Central Catholic to evaluate me and then speaking highly of me means a lot.”
Since he’s already been to Pitt a few times, I asked Goode about what he’s looking forward to seeing today.

“I want to see all the facilities and want to get the feel of what it’s like for an incoming freshman. I also want to see Pitt practice also and how the flow goes with the team.”
Goode holds offers from Pitt, Wake Forest and Toledo but is getting serious interest from Virginia Tech, Rutgers, Missouri and Mississippi State. However, he’s fond of Pitt because they’re the first team to offer him and as he puts it, “they’re the first team that gave me the opportunity to play college ball and they opened so many doors for me.”
“Coach Powell, the running back coach, is recruiting me heavy. He can’t call me yet (September 1st) cause I’m a Sophomore but every time I call him it’s nothing but love and joyous conversation about school and football opportunities for me at Pitt and what Pitt is trying to build.”
