PITT vs. PENN STATE!

** The biggest complaint following yesterday’s win over Villanova was that the Pitt offense wasn’t very impressive. Along those lines, I received a message from someone this morning who said:

“From a source on the team, Pitt showed bare minimum this week. Expect a lot more different looks on offense for the PSU defense. Pitt did not want to show anything to Penn State on film for them to dissect. With the new offensive coordinator, expect Penn State to see a lot of looks next week that they haven’t practiced.”

UPDATE (12:25 PM)-

** Without a doubt, the biggest recruit at Heinz Field yesterday was North Carolina 2018 DE KJ Henry. The 4-star recruit is ranked as the #2 defensive end in the country and rated as one of the Top 20 players in the country. It was really impressive that the Pitt coaches got Henry to visit and this morning I talked to him about his trip to Pittsburgh.

“It was a great environment. I really liked the energy that the fans had for their team yesterday. I was also impressed with how they share so much with an NFL team and how big the stadium was, two very cool things for a college program,” said Henry.

Despite it being the day of a game, Henry was able to spend some time with the Pitt coaches who had a message for him.

“They let me know that I’m a priority for them and they believe that I’m a threat off the edge as a pass rusher which is what they like the most.”

I asked Henry with what he saw yesterday and with what he knows about them, does Pitt have what it takes to be a serious contender for him?

“Athletically, yes they do. I didn’t have enough time to check out the academic side so hopefully over the next year I can learn more about that.”

UPDATE (3:33)-

** In case you’re wondering, Vegas has installed Pitt as a 4.5 point favorite over Penn State.
