UPDATE (10:45 PM)-

That’s it. That’s the ballgame. Pitt with a much needed victory under the lights of Heinz Field, 43-27.

UPDATE (10:25 PM)-

The Pitt defense and Pitt Twitter melting down in equal parts.

UPDATE (10:19 PM)-

Panthers defense cannot get off the field.

UPDATE (10:10 PM)-

Pitt’s fake field goal is a spectacular failure. Marshall with the ball back down by just ten points.

UPDATE (10:02 PM)-

Marshall with the quick strike, Litton to Clark for 83 yards. Two-point conversion is intercepted but Marshall has cut the lead to 10.

UPDATE (9:54 PM)-

Blewitt *barely* hits a 20 yard FG to make it 30-14 Panthers.

UPDATE (9:48 PM)-

Jester Weah with the first 100-yard receiving game for the Panthers this year.

UPDATE (9:47 PM)-

First time the Pitt offense has touched the ball since the 1st half.

UPDATE (9:42 PM)-

Marshall converts another 4th down against the Panthers, this time on a defensive pass interference. Becoming somewhat of a theme for Pitt.

UPDATE (9:37 PM)-

Marshall looking like a completely different team post-half time.

UPDATE (9:34 PM)-

Marshall with a perfectly executed onside kick. Gutsy play calling by Doc Holiday. Marshall gets it back in Pitt territory.

UPDATE (9:25 PM)-

Surprisingly, Marshall still has the ball. The Thundering Herd convert on 4th down near midfield. Marshall with 54 yards of rushing on this drive alone.

UPDATE (9:18 PM)-

Marshall gets the ball to start the second half.

HALFTIME STATS:

TEAM COMPARISON:

  • Time of possession: Pitt 19:23 – Marshall 10:37
  • Rushing Yards: Pitt 202 – Marshall 7
  • Passing Yards: Pitt 152 – Marshall 95

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS:

Pitt Passing: Nate Peterman: 9/13, 152 yards, 1 TD
Pitt Rushing: Chawntez Moss: 8-79 yards, Quadree Henderon: 4-44 yards, James Conner: 7-27 yards
Pitt Receiving: Jester Weah: 4-81 yards

UPDATE (8:56 PM)-

Marshall content to go into halftime with a 27 point deficit. This is fine.

UPDATE (8:50 PM)-

Pitt again driving down the field after a Marshall punt (am I repeating myself?) Peterman has literally all day to throw.

UPDATE (8:39 PM)-

Pitt forced to punt for the first time tonight. Conner with a drop on 2nd down, would have been a big gain if he hangs on.

UPDATE (8:36 PM)-

Pitt’s defense holds on third down again. Marshall punts it away.

UPDATE (8:31 PM)-

Lots of chaos as Pitt is stopped on 4th and goal from the 1. Referees rule Peterman’s forward progress was stopped and his helmet came off, which automatically stops the play.

UPDATE (8:22 PM)-

The play is under review. Call stands. Pitt 1st and goal from the one.

UPDATE (8:20 PM)-

Pitt not even bothering to bring out the special teams at this point. On 4th down, Peterman sneaks it to pick up the 1st. Next play, Tre Tipton picks up 21-yards, down to the 1 yard line. Ridiculous block by Scott Orndoff to spring Tipton.

UPDATE (8:03 PM)-

Maurice Ffrench (that’s two f’s) with a sweet spin move on his way to the end zone. It is now 20-0 Pitt.

UPDATE (8:03 PM)-

Pitt with 137 yards rushing on 12 carriers, still 1:26 left in the 1st quarter.

UPDATE (8:00 PM)-

Ejaun Price with the sack on 3rd down, his 6.5th of the season. Panthers will get the ball back deep in their own territory.

UPDATE (7:56 PM)-

The Pitt offense is encountering zero resistance from Marshall so far. Pitt again drives it down the field with no issues. Conner takes it in from the 1 yard line for his 5th of the season. Quadree Henderson’s 34 yard scamper the key play of the drive. 13-0 Panthers.

UPDATE (7:47 PM)-

The Pitt defense holds. Marshall punts it away. Henderson with the fair catch at the 17.

UPDATE (7:40 PM)-

Pitt marches right down the field for the opening TD: Peterman 2/3 for 52 yards. George Aston with his 4th TD of the season (which ties him for the team lead). But Blewitt misses the extra point. 6-0 Panthers.

UPDATE (7:36 PM)-

Pitt attempts a downfield pass. That’s worthy of an update.

UPDATE (7:00 PM)-
