It could be a big day for the Pitt football program. Aside from possibly earning their 3rd win of the season, the coaches are hoping to gain a verbal commitment.

A few weeks ago, Pat Narduzzi sent out the famous “Pat Signal” and speculation was that the commitment announcement would be delayed until October 1st.

Well, today is October 1st, does that mean the silent commit will be revealed?

Indications are that it will happen, which would give Pitt their 15th verbal commitment. The million dollar question, though, is who is the “mystery recruit?”

Surprisingly, this silent commitment has pretty much remained secret.

From the start, my guess has been that the commitment will come from 4-star Steubenville tight end Charles Reeves. My other guess would be Ohio 3-star guard Thayer Munford. If I’m correct with my guess, it’s not a surprise things stayed quiet because these two players are very quiet and reserved.

Reeves (6-5, 240) is a player that Pitt fans have heard about for awhile because the coaching staff has put in a ton of time recruiting him.

Reeves would be a great get for Pitt because of his physical stature and play-making ability at the tight end position. Pairing him next year with Chris Clark would give Matt Canada two huge weapons to work with.

Reeves currently holds offers from Wisconsin, Alabama, Tennessee, Penn State, Nebraska, Syracuse, Purdue, and Kentucky among others.

If it’s Munford (6-5, 339), he’d give OL coach John Peterson another talented prospect to work with. Like Reeves, Pitt has recruited Munford very hard over the last year and it would be nice to have their efforts rewarded with a commitment.

According to 247 Sports, Munford holds offers from schools like Alabama, Louisville, Tennessee and Maryland. Pitt is looking to add two more offensive lineman in this recruiting class and Munford would be a great get.
