4-Star Recruit Visiting Pitt Saturday

Published

on

The Georgia Tech game Saturday is a big day for the Pitt football program. They’ll be celebrating Homecoming, wearing Throwback uniforms, playing a conference opponent, and they’ll be doing all this in front of some big recruits.

One of these recruits will be 2018 4-star recruit defensive end Malik Vann from Fairfield, Ohio. To this point, Vann holds offers from Notre Dame, Michigan State, Louisville, Oregon, Kentucky and Pitt.

“I’m excited to get up there and see what Pitt has to offer,” said Vann. “Josiah Scott our cornerback (who committed to Michigan State over Pitt) spoke highly to me about them.”

247 Sports.com ranks Vann (6-1, 243) as a 4-star recruit, Ohio’s 13th best prospect and the 9th best strong-side defensive end in the country.

As far as his relationship with Pitt, Vann tells me that Pitt offensive line coach John Peterson is the coach recruiting him.

What does Vann like about Pitt?

“The fact that they have a connection to the Pittsburgh Steelers, my favorite NFL team. They use the same facilities as the Steelers and their players spend time with NFL players.”

Don’t look for Vann to be a player that makes a decision anytime soon.

“No, I’m waiting till I feel the time is right, so probably next year.”
