UPDATE  (3:42 PM)-

** 2018 Ohio 4-star DE Tyreke Smith confirmed to me that Pitt stopped by his school today. Smith is a national recruit and already holds a bunch of major offers. Smith and his father visited Pitt earlier this summer.

UPDATE (1:13 PM)-

** Pitt WR coach Kevin Sherman’s been a busy guy today. As we told you earlier, he met with Harrisburg 4-star WR Shaquon Anderson-Butts.  Sherman then traveled to check in on the #1 tight end prospect in the entire country for the Class of 2018.

Zack Kuntz (6-7, 215) is a 5-star tight end from Camp Hill, PA (central Pennsylvania) who has offers from virtually every school in the country. Kuntz is no stranger to Pitt, as he visited the school already in February.

I’m hoping to talk to Kuntz later today.

UPDATE (1:03 PM)-

**Pitt has offered another prospect today this one from the state of Ohio. 2018 4-star linebacker Christopher Oats from Cincinnati received the news from Pitt.

Oats is ranked as one of the Top 250 players in the country by 247 Sports and has offers from Ohio State, Miami, Michigan State, Michigan, Louisville, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

UPDATE (12:05 PM)-

Beaver Falls 4-star DE Donovan Jeter just announced that he has decommitted from Notre Dame and is reopening his recruitment.

UPDATE (11:41 AM) by Alan Saunders-

** The Pitt coaching staff is making full use of the bye week, as the Panthers have extended an offer to 2018 DeMatha (Md.) Catholic tight end/defensive end John Morgan.

Morgan checks in at 6-foot-2 and 235 pounds and is rated as a 3-star prospect by 247. He has Power Five offers from Penn State, Maryland, Rutgers, Syracuse and Virginia Tech.

UPDATE (11:23 AM) by Alan Saunders-

** I just heard from Malvern Prep (Downingtown, Pa.) 2018 quarterback Kevin Doyle, who Pitt offensive coordinator Matt Canada visited yesterday. Doyle is rated as a 3-star player by 247 the pro-style quarterback is weighing offers from over 20 schools, including big time Power Five programs such as Florida, Georgia and Michigan State.

Doyle said he’s been very impressed with Canada and the way he’s directed Pitt’s offense so far this season.

UPDATE (11:03 AM)-

** 2018 Harrisburg 4-star WR Shaquon Anderson-Butts is a player that’s high on Pitt’s radar and has been for quite some time. This morning, WR coach Kevin Sherman was at his school checking in. Pitt would like to get him on campus for a visit soon.

** Was just told that Rob Harley was at the school of local 4-star athlete Kenny Robinson. The Pitt staff is still looking at him to play linebacker.

UPDATE (9:40 AM)-

** A source tells me that DC Josh Conklin was on the other side of the state at North Penn High School evaluating 2018 DE/TE Owen Thomas.

Conklin first noticed Thomas (6-4, 215) last year when he was at the school recruiting Ricky Johns, who ended up with West Virginia.

Thomas attended a Pitt camp this summer and really liked the Pitt staff especially Coach Harley. Thomas also was in town a couple weeks ago for the Marshall game and had a chance to tour the campus.

At this time, Thomas doesn’t hold any offers but remember that he’s a junior.

UPDATE (8:10 AM)-

** Pitt coaches were all over the east coast yesterday but Pat Narduzzi stayed home to do his own recruiting. Narduzzi attended Beaver’s football practice and was evaluating Beaver star athlete Darius Wise.

From what I understand, Narduzzi was impressed with Wise and will continue to evaluate him. At this time, no scholarship was offered but that could eventually change.

I’m sure the Pitt staff could envision using Wise like current wideout Quadree Henderson.

UPDATE (7:57 AM)-

** It appears that at the moment, New Jersey OG Josh  Fedd-Jackson is a man without a scholarship. Although Pitt would very much like to take this talented lineman, I don’t believe they have room.

When fellow Jersey lineman Carter Warren committed, that left Pitt with just one scholarship left for an offensive lineman.  Pat Narduzzi and John Peterson are counting on Ohio offensive tackle Thayer Munford grabbing that last scholarship. If that doesn’t work out or something unforeseen happens, Pitt would take Fedd-Jackson in a minute.

Unfortunately, this is yet another example of a scholarship not being available forever and one that comes with a time limit.

UPDATE (12:35 AM)-

** Look who was in town yesterday night watching Mars 2018 guard Robby Carmody.

The Pitt coaches will once again be out on the road recruiting both 2017 and 2018 athletes. Like yesterday, we’ll do our best to find out who they’re visiting.

** A few weeks back, it was floated somewhere that Pitt was possibly still recruiting 2017 North Carolina quarterback Hendon Hooker.  According to what I’m hearing, that isn’t the case.

** Speaking of quarterbacks, I thought it was interesting that on the first day of recruiting, offensive coordinator Matt Canada made a visit to see Malvern Prep 2018 prospect Kevin Doyle. That should tell you the value Pitt is placing in trying to land him.
