Last week we told you that on Friday night members of the Pitt coaching were out recruiting in Miami. One of the players that they were evaluating was Jamauri Laguerre.

Laguerre (6-0, 180) is a cornerback from from Edison High School in Miami. Pitt hasn’t offered Laguerre yet, but they were there to watch him in game action.

“The communication between Pitt and I started during spring evaluation, where I got a chance to meet Coach Hill.  There wasn’t much communication for a while until we met again on Friday.  We talked and everything seems great,” said Laguerre.

Laguerre told me that it was cool to have Coach Hill watch him play on Friday night.

“I was excited to meet him because I watched him as a Dolphin and Bronco and followed him so it would be really great to be coached by him,” said Laguerre.

“We talked about my game that night, also about Pitt’s game on Saturday vs. Miami and also about how I can fit in at Pitt. They love my height and ability to play all three phases of defensive back.”

Laguerre says that no offer was made but Hill did tell him that he’s a target for Pitt.

Right now, Laguerre has offers from Northern Iowa, Central Michigan and Purdue while Eastern Michigan, Ohio and Colorado State are showing interest.

“I’m interested in Pitt the most. I’ve watched their defensive backs a lot. They play in a great conference, have great televised games and they offer my major (finance).

Although nothing is definite, Laguerre tells me that he plans on making an official visit to Pitt on either December 10-11 or December 16-17.

“I haven’t setup anything because of the playoffs but time is ticking it’ll be here soon and I’m planning on early enrolling at college.”
