Pitt has already received a commitment from a Florida receiver, could they be getting a second one?
DJ Edwards is a talented receiver from West Palm Beach, Florida and is rated by 247 Sports as a 3-star player. Edwards (6-2, 180) currently holds offers from schools like Penn State, Houston, Kentucky, West Virginia, NC State, Missouri, Louisville, Illinois and Indiana.

“Right now I’m most interested in Pitt, Houston, Penn State, Iowa State and Illinois,” said Edwards.
How serious is Edwards about Pitt?
“They’re at the top of my list. They’ve increased themselves a lot.”
The interesting part about that is that for a long time Edwards didn’t have much interest in the Panthers.

“At first, I wasn’t interested in them that much. I didn’t think that threw the ball a lot and didn’t have the offense that a wide receiver wants,” said Edwards.
So what changed? The fact that Pitt had some games on television was a big factor.
“I started watching them and especially the Virginia Tech game, that game really made me look at Pitt. Plus, my wide receivers coach knows the Pitt staff well and he kept telling me about them,” said Edwards.
“Pitt has the type of offense I’m looking for. My strength is my speed, I can take short passes and take them to the house.”
Pitt already has commitments from Dontavius Butler (Plantation, Florida), Darian Street (Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) and have interest in Georgia wideout Connor Heyward. But I can tell you that the Pitt coaching staff has tons of interest in trying to land Edwards.
“I talk to the Pitt coaches almost everyday,” said Edwards. “I talk to Coach Salem mostly every other day and Coach Narduzzi would text me before every game. Coach Salem just came down here two weeks ago for my last game.”
For a team to land a player building a solid relationship is vital and Salem is doing that with Edwards.
“He’s very straight up and tells you how it is. Coach Salem doesn’t sugar coat anything, that’s what I like about him. For example, he once told me it’s time to grow up and put your big boy pants on, come to work and do what you have to do.”
“Most of my high school coaches are like that too. That’s a relationship that I can get into, I like that,” said Edwards.
So what’s next for Edwards? He tells me that he’s plans on making an official visit to Pitt in early December. That’s important because he plans on making his college decision within a month and is set to enroll in college early (January ).
Will Pitt be it for Edwards?
