Hamlin Close To Offer From Pitt?

If you talk to many talent evaluators, Clairton star athlete Noah Hamlin is one of most underrated/under recruited players in the WPIAL.

Since earning his way into Clairton’s talented lineup a couple of years ago, Hamlin has just consistently produced and made big plays for the Bears.

Hamlin (5-11, 165) along with teammate Lamont Wade have once again led Clairton (11-0) into the WPIAL semifinals. Saturday night, Clairton will take on Northgate (10-1) at Chartiers-Houston High School.

Hamlin mindset isn’t on recruiting instead he’s focused on a PIAA and WPIAL football championship.

“The state title is always the big goal but we can’t look ahead. We still have the WPIAL’s to worry about and Saturday nights game,” said Hamlin.

Although it isn’t his main focus, Hamlin is also trying to determine where he’ll be playing football next season.

Will it be for the hometown school, the Pitt Panthers?

“Ive been talking with Coach Salem and Coach Canada. They’re looking at me for both sides of the ball. Coach Canada says I’m real instinctive and very agile. They’d like to see me be more aggressive on defense but they like me a lot, ” said Hamlin.

I asked Hamlin if he could see himself having a role like Quadree Henderson in Pitt’s offense and he said maybe but that they might be looking at him more for defense.

“It wouldn’t matter to be honest.”

Right now, what matters is getting that offer from Pat Narduzzi and Pitt. In the last month, Narduzzi and DC coordinator Josh Conklin have been at Clairton games and their focus hasn’t been just on Wade.

“People around me are telling me to be patient. Pitt has really just started recruiting me heavily lately. I’ve been talking to their coaches almost every week. I’m just being patient and playing my game,” said Hamlin.

So,  does Hamlin think the Pitt coaches plan on offering?

“Yes, I think an offer is coming soon. That would mean a lot.  That would be real big.”

Hamlin is currently rated as a 3-star recruit by 247 Sports and holds offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, UConn, Iowa State, Temple, Toledo and Western Michigan.

Obviously, Pitt is trying to get a commitment from Wade, do they talk about being teammates again after high school?

“Yes, we’d like to go to the same school. He’s been telling me to just be patient. We talk about it all the time (going to same school), that’s our conversation almost everyday.”

If Hamlin is right and an offer is coming soon, Hamlin and Wade will have a chance to be teammates again for their hometown school.
