UPDATE (3:46 PM)-
**Per Corey Bender of Scout, Pitt has extended an offer to 3-star cornerback Anthony Johnson of Hollywood, Florida. Interesting, considering that Johnson is committed to Louisville. The biggest thing that stands out about Johnson is probably his size at 6 feet 2 inches.
UPDATE (2:12 PM)-
**Big news concerning Malik Zaire as some insiders believed Florida was the front-runner for the Notre Dame quarterback.
UPDATE (1:52 PM)-
**Clairton’s Lamont Wade on official visit to West Virginia today.
UPDATE (10:44 AM)-
**Just learned about a visit this week by Pitt to a couple local prospects. A source tells me that Coach Powell stopped by Beaver High School to check in on 2017 athlete Darius Wise and 2018 kicker Will Connelly.
Connelly is a junior and ranked as the #2 kicker in the state and ranked by Kohlskicking.com as the #33 kicker in the country. Pitt has been engaged with Connelly since he attended their Specialist Camp last June. I’m told that Connelly has 50+ yard range and even has hit 60+ yard field goals in practice. Aside from Pitt, Connelly is also getting early interest from Rutgers, Indiana and Princeton.
We all know about the talent level of Wise, right now it’s about if Pitt pills the trigger and offers him a scholarship.
UPDATE (10:20 AM)-
**Coach Harley met last night with Steel Valley’s Paris Ford — Pitt’s top recruit. As we told you yesterday, coaches from Michigan and USC were also in town and Michigan attended his game last night.
