**Obviously, the big news of the day is the visit this weekend of USC graduate transfer quarterback Max Browne. Pgh Sports Now was the only outlet to speak to Browne yesterday as he was boarding his plane from Los Angeles to Pittsburgh.
I think with a talented team returning in 2017, Pat Narduzzi would feel more comfortable with a senior quarterback instead of a freshman. That isn’t a knock against Thomas MacVittie or Kenny Pickett, both of whom are talented and will be really good quarterbacks.

One other thing, it’s not a slam dunk that Browne commits to Pitt. Let’s see how the visit goes first. If he would commit, it would be a 3-way battle for the starting job between Browne, MacVittie and transfer Bo Schneider (if he stays with the team).

**The second biggest news of the day was from Michael Clark of Scout.com who reported that Virginia 4-star defensive end TyJuan Garbutt has set 2 official visits: Pitt January 13th and Virginia Tech January 20th. While Virginia Tech is likely the favorite, it’s big for Pitt to get him back on campus.
