Florida DE Sets Pitt Official Visit Date

At this point, Pitt has received commitments from two defensive ends in Deslin Alexandre (Deerfield, Florida) and Carson Van Lynn (Worthington, Ohio). The question now is how many more do they want to take this year?

I believe that Pat Narduzzi will take at least one — and probably two more ends. Last night, I talked with another candidate that has set an official date to visit Pitt.

Noah Curtis (Delray Beach, Florida) tells me that he plans on visiting Pitt the weekend of January 20th. Curtis (6-6, 225) is rated by 247 Sports as a 3-star recruit with 21 offers including ones from Arkansas, Kentucky, Iowa State, Maryland, Minnesota, NC State, North Carolina, Central Florida, South Florida and West Virginia.

“Reason I decided on Pitt being my first official visit is because they’ve been one of my favorite schools,” said Curtis. At this point, Curtis doesn’t have any other officials lined up.

Being from Florida, it’s not a surprise that Coach Salem, who’s one of Pitt’s ace recruiters in the Sunshine State, is his chief recruiter.

“I have a very good relationship with Coach Salem. Actually him and I speak everyday, he said really cool,” said Curtis.

A couple of other things that Curtis told me are:

–Pitt is looking at him as either a defensive end or an outside linebacker

–Playing at Heinz Field, where the Steelers play, is a selling point to him

–He knows current Pitt commit offensive tackle Jerry Drake

Curtis is the 6th defensive end that Pitt is currently recruiting and considering they’ll only be taking one or two more, it will turn into a numbers game for this position. One thing that these players have to keep in mind is that for the most part, these scholarship offers come with an expiration date. Once a team gets the number of players they’re looking for at a certain position, that’s it.

Aside from Curtis, other defensive ends being recruited are Kevince Brown (Winter Park, Florida), Stephon Zayas (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida), TyJuan Garbutt (Fredericksburg, Virginia), Zion Debose (Spencer, North Carolina) and Zach Morton (Detroit, Michigan).
